1. Choose the Right Person
Look for someone who seems to care about photos—tourists with nice cameras or people taking lots of pics are often a good bet. Solo travelers are also more likely to help out.
2. Be Friendly and Specific
Approach them with a smile and politely ask, “Would you mind taking a quick photo of me?” Once they agree, give simple directions like, “Could you please include the background/building/sunset?”
3. Show Them a Sample Shot
Before handing over your phone or camera, show them a photo you’ve taken or one you like. This gives them an idea of the framing and vibe you’re going for.
4. Set Up Your Camera First
Adjust your settings—portrait mode, wide-angle, HDR, etc.—and open the camera app so they only have to press the shutter.
5. Use Burst Mode or Live Photos
Tell them to hold the button down to take multiple shots. That way, you have more to choose from, and you’ll probably get at least one perfect moment.
6. Pose with Energy
Use motion, playful gestures, or natural poses. Candid or action shots often look more dynamic than static poses.
7. Offer to Return the Favor
It’s a great way to give back, and most people will appreciate the kindness.
8. Thank Them Genuinely
Always express gratitude—people are doing you a favor, and it might encourage them to do the same for others.
